Level Divisions

Level 1 - Level 1 is the introductory division of Culver City Academy of Ballet’s  program. These young dancers (6–7 years old) are usually hand-selected students from Pre-Ballet at Michelle's Dance Academy, though we do accept new students pending an audition.

In Level 1 we begin introducing students to the principles of ballet and fundamental technique, creating a strong foundation on which they can build careers upon.

Level 1 students are required to take one class per week.

-

Level 2 - In Level 2, dancers will continue to develop technique learned in Level 1, while also delving into ballet theory. Level 2 students broaden their repertoire of steps and movements as they graduate to one hand on the barre, increasing the use of fifth position over first.

Level 2 students are required to take two classes per week.

-

Level 3 - Level 3 is an intermediate division that challenges students with advanced technique and intricate choreography. Focus is placed on precision, artistry, and preparing dancers for higher levels of performance. Pre-pointe is introduced at this level.

Level 3 students are required to take two classes per week.

-

Levels 4–6 - These advanced divisions are for dedicated dancers who have mastered intermediate technique. Students will work on perfecting their artistry, and executing sophisticated combinations. Emphasis is placed on performance elevation and preparation for professional opportunities.

Level 4–6 students are required to take a minimum of three classes per week. Students who are invited to compete in ballet competitions will be required to take 5+ classes per week.
